It’s tucked away from the road, so the night was peaceful and quiet, and the place looks out over a golf course. Inside, there was plenty to use, including a kettle, hot plate, cutlery, and other supplies. Getting there may take a little detour around a couple of roundabouts, since Google Maps points to a closed road.

The cottage felt nearly new, with that new-furniture smell still around, and the four of us had what we needed to make dinner, including a mini oven and stove. We stayed one night at @cabin3. Finding it took some effort. It sits in an awkward spot near what looks like a construction site and a dealer’s parking area, and a road closure made access difficult. From Kenos? grocery store, turn left at the first exit, then left again; after crossing a major intersection, the cottage is on your left.

The management company was quick to answer our check-in questions, which was helpful. The place itself was clean and nice, behind a golf course and near the beach, a grocery store, and a few restaurants. There’s a small kitchen with a coffee maker, water boiler, pan, and pot. One room has two bunk beds, another has a full-size bed, and the couch can be used for sleeping too. I’d highly recommend it.

We ended up in the lovely little Nr3 cottage after the Black Beach Guesthouse, which has the same owner, had some issues with a high room temperature. There wasn’t a room change available there because it was fully booked, so we were upgraded instead. There are three cottages: Nr1 is the largest, while Nr2 and Nr3 are smaller. The cottage is well maintained and has what you need for a comfortable stay, though it’s in a somewhat deserted area. It’s Iceland, after all.

I’m disappointed by how heartless the property was in responding to our request for some kind of refund. The brother of someone in our party was killed in a car accident on Saturday, so we had to cancel our two-night booking that week. We contacted the hotel right away, and our booking agent followed up several times, hoping they might show some sympathy given the tragic and unusual circumstances.
