Black Sand Hotel

The setting is lovely and quiet, the place is beautiful, and the price is great by Icelandic standards. The rooms are nicely designed, and breakfast was okay. But the summer heat and unreliable internet were real problems for me. There’s no AC or fan. I called the front desk on the first night, and they confirmed they had no fans, even though many guests had asked for one. The window barely opens, just a couple of inches on a short side window. Even after leaving it open for more than 24 hours, I was sweating both nights in very thin pajamas with the heat off, and sleeping was pretty much impossible. The Wi-Fi was weak or unavailable at least half the time. It couldn’t handle Zoom meetings or remote work, and often wouldn’t load basic webpages. My weak roaming signal was usually better. I’d happily come back in winter, but in summer I’d avoid it unless they added fans or AC. I also wouldn’t stay if I needed a strong internet connection.

We live in Iceland and just needed a night away to rest. It was amazing, the food was amazing, and the prices were good for what you get!

The hotel has an industrial look, with amazing views on both sides. There’s a large breakfast selection. Great hotel, 5⭐️.
