Taergesen Guesthouse

What kind of place is this? It was supposed to be private, but guests were sitting inside. They wouldn’t sell us food or welcome us. Completely unfriendly.

The guesthouse was closed for renovation when we found it on our drive through the island, and the restaurants in the previous three villages were closed too. We were starving, but the kitchen lady, who was cooking for the workers, kindly made an exception and helped us out. My chicken pasta was the best I’ve ever eaten, and my friend got a delicious vegetarian dish she improvised. The facilities were clean, prices reasonable, and the food and service were wonderful. I’ll definitely return on my next trip through the country.

The restaurant section was closed because of infrastructure problems, so there were no communal rooms. Breakfast was good, though, at the neighbor hotel 400m away. The place was cheap and simple, but tidy and clean. There was just one working shower for the first floor, and the shared bathrooms were well maintained.

We got in late and hungry, but they let us eat and stay as long as we liked. The owner was charismatic and friendly, and we felt at home. The food was very nice, and their own beer was really good too. Definitely recommend it. Skål from Denmark!
