Hali Country Hotel

Friendly, helpful staff, and coffee and tea are available around the clock. It’s a nice hotel for the price, about a 10-minute drive from the glacier if you’re planning a day trip. On a lucky winter night, you can also see the northern lights from here without heading out into the wild.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and the servings were generous. After a long day hiking outdoors, we found the meal comforting, like home cooking, and it was one of our favorite meals so far on the trip. The creamy, flavorful seafood soup with the bread basket made a perfect starter. The Arctic Char was fresh, tender, and delicately seasoned. My companion had the grilled lamb and especially liked the unusual, flavorful gravy and rhubarb jam. We’d absolutely eat here again.

The hotel views are fantastic, and our room was spacious and clean. We stayed in mid-October 2025, and the staff were welcoming when we arrived and very helpful. Our room was in a separate building from reception, but parking was plentiful, so that wasn’t an issue. Breakfast was nice, though nothing special. The restaurant prices felt a bit high even by Icelandic standards, but there isn’t anything else nearby, so I can’t really complain.

Dinner here was one of the best we had in Iceland. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was great, and all four different meals we ordered were really well made. We also had wine and desserts, and everything was delicious. Definitely give it a try!
