Hotel Cabin

Breakfast was tricky for me. They had gluten-free bread, but with only one toaster I worried about cross-contamination and skipped it. The buffet also had cold cheese, meat and fruit, plus sausages, beans and boiled eggs. I don’t eat meat or dairy, so the nice coffee was the one thing I could enjoy. My dad liked the breakfast, though. We had a budget twin room in a good location, and it was fine for our needs for two nights. It was tiny, with two of the smallest single beds I’ve seen. I’m 5ft3 and my feet still stuck out past the end; I was nervous about rolling out if I turned over. The room had a TV, shower and toilet, a very small wardrobe with four hangers, and the beds. I’d have been very uncomfortable staying longer.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast had plenty to choose from, with no waiting. Our room was very clean too. I’d highly recommend the hotel.

The food was the worst part by far. I was served pork that looked raw, and the next day there was a raw chicken curry, which I didn’t try myself but heard was appallingly undercooked. The bread was thick and hard, tasted old, and the toaster didn’t work for half the trip. The rest of the food was awful too. I came on a school trip without expecting much, but hoped for a decent stay. Instead, I had to share a tiny, cramped room with two other people. The bathroom was minuscule and there was barely any floor space. Outside the window, buildings were being demolished and there were skips everywhere, a grim view in what’s meant to be one of the world’s best-looking cities. If a school or anyone else is considering staying here, I’d strongly recommend finding somewhere else.

The rooms are extremely small, but they were really clean, and the hotel was good value for money. Breakfast is continental, and lots of schools seem to use this place. It was okay, and I’d come back.
