A quiet little guesthouse, with a spacious kitchen and living area, tidy bedrooms, underfloor heating, and a sleek bathroom. You can walk easily to Reykjavik’s main attractions and sights. There’s a step down from the road to the front door, then two fairly big steps down to the floor inside, but they were manageable even with a buggy.
Arrival instructions were communicated well, and the rooms were clean. The guesthouse is ideally located and very reasonably priced. We had a nice stay. The bathroom was small and often occupied, though the kitchen was large enough for several people to cook at once.
The rooms were clean and nice, and the location was excellent. The bathrooms really need attention: the upstairs shower didn’t drain properly, while the downstairs toilet and bathroom wouldn’t lock and its shower didn’t work. In our last room the radiator leaked, and apparently it had already been like that for several days.
Our apartment was a dedicated four-bedroom unit at the back of the building, and for the low price it was quite good, especially compared with other ratings here. It was reasonably clean and had both a kitchen and bathroom. We collected the key ourselves when we arrived and got into the apartment without any trouble.
The bathroom door wouldn’t lock from inside and could be opened from outside, so someone walked in while I was washing. I also found that alcohol, orange juice, and eggs I’d left in the refrigerator section marked with my room number were gone after just one day. They were worth more than 3,000 ISK, and I was really upset. The host replied very late and said they couldn’t do anything. It happened again the next day. Getting into the place was a problem from the start. I arrived around 8 pm in freezing weather, entered the correct access code, and the main door still never opened until someone inside noticed me shivering and let me in. The host never answered my call and did nothing to help me get in that night. Inside, every name on the tickets said “Last Minute” rather than the guests’ real names, so I couldn’t tell where my room was. People who arrived before me had simply taken whichever keys were available. If I could go back to when I booked, I’d never choose this accommodation. If you want to shiver outside in Reykjavik, have your food stolen, or feel anxious using a bathroom that won’t lock, book here and ruin your trip.
