Máni Apartments

We were a family of four with two teenage boys, and the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We all slept well. I used the provided earplugs, but nobody else needed them, and the noise we had worried about wasn't an issue. The location was just right for us, near bars, cafes, and sights. It was a 17-minute walk to the bus terminal for trips and a 20-minute walk past the harbor to fly over Iceland. Communication was great: we could always reach someone who was helpful and sorted out any issues. We had a great time and would happily recommend and return to mani apartments. For our first visit to Iceland, this flat made things easy. It's close to the main sights, and the bus stations for tour pickups are an easy walk away. The street itself is lovely for starting the morning with coffee and a French croissant from the boulangerie next door. There are also souvenir shops, supermarkets, and pubs serving traditional food with live music nearby. The apartment was spacious and clean. What really made a difference was the support from Mani Apartments: staff replied to our questions within minutes, whatever the time. That round-the-clock help made us feel safe and welcome. I'll definitely visit again.

We spent two days here with our two kids and didn't get a wink of sleep. After travelling to more than 33 countries, this is by far the worst apartment we've stayed in. Even a one-star rating feels generous. Mani left a bad impression of an otherwise beautiful country. It seems aimed at 20-year-old college students who get drunk and don't care about the inconveniences. With supply and demand out of balance, *CRAP* gets five-star prices in Iceland. The apartment is above a bar with live music and a thumping bass that shakes the whole place. Drunk people spill out onto the street and yell until 3-4 am. None of this was disclosed in the VRBO listing. I expect management to say the noise is beyond their control, but surely being upfront about it on VRBO and Airbnb is within their control. Deception looks bad. They left earplugs, so they could also update their descriptions. I doubt they'll take responsibility for anything and expect they'll deflect and shrug it off. The blinds barely reached the bottom of the windows, letting in a lot of light. Proper blinds, soundproof windows, and soundproof flooring shouldn't be that hard to arrange. Given the other negative reviews, it seems they don't care enough to make changes. The beds have springs and are at least a dozen years old. There was mold in the bathroom and elsewhere, which is a serious health risk; they shouldn't be allowed to rent the place. The bathroom looked less appealing than the presents I make. We asked for extra towels and got no reply. The customer service was probably the worst I've experienced. The fire alarm went off twice in one night, forcing us out into the cold, and apartment security gave no explanation. That's unacceptable. One bedroom reeked of cigarette smoke, even though the listing on VRBO says no smoking. They'd just left the windows open. I'm sure they charged the previous renters, and the smoke set off my asthma.

I had a great short stay with no problems. The place is central, clean, and has modern appliances. We were on the third floor in the family apartment, and with the windows closed it was well insulated from nearby bar music and noise.
