Loki 101 Guesthouse

The shared bathroom is very small and has only one shower, though there was rarely a line. We couldn't use the back porch because of the weather, but the room was comfortable enough to look out at the streets. The hosts and cleaning staff were super friendly. This was the perfect base for exploring the city, with a great location and a very well equipped kitchen.

From the apartment we could walk to Rainbowstreet, sunvoyager, Harpa center and most of the bus stops where local tours start. Cafe Loki is just nearby, as is Hallgrimskirkja church, which you can see from anywhere downtown, so it's hard to get lost. It's right in the middle of everything, and we enjoyed our stay. There was enough room for a family, with two bedrooms, a kitchen and a balcony. The sofa converts into two extra beds.

The hotel was good value and otherwise fine, but the arrival process needs work. Nobody answered when I rang, so I waited outside for a while, and I hadn't been sent the entry password beforehand. It would help to have someone explain how to use the black phone to reach the owner in an emergency and how the kitchen works. There was a smell in the toilet and hair in the showers. It also got too noisy at night or in the morning when lots of guests were on the same floor. The soundproofing isn't very good.

The room was clean and comfy, and staff were extremely quick to answer any questions. Loki 101 Guesthouse was the perfect place for my stay in Reykjavik, with a fantastic location. I'll certainly stay here again on my next visit!
