Fosshotel Barón

This was my second stay, this time for six nights, and I’d gladly come back again. I felt comfortable and well cared for throughout. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful every day. The location made it easy to get around and enjoy the area. I already knew what to expect from my first visit, and they still met or even went beyond it. I’d recommend the hotel to others.

The room was clean, though quite small, with dated carpet and a lovely skylight. I was in room 223, and there was a strong lava-like smell, which I guessed might come from the smelly hot water. The water was hot but stayed at one temperature, and I wished I could turn it up a little more. Early check-in is available for an extra charge. Mihal and Sara were warm and welcoming, and helped me a lot when my tour was rescheduled several times. Breakfast was enjoyable, with fresh cold cuts, different breads, croissants, and freshly brewed coffee from the machine. The location is fantastic for getting into the town center. I could walk to the main sights in Reykjavík in about 45 minutes.

The room was very spacious, and the little balcony looking out toward the seaside made winter nights in Iceland feel even more special. The hotel is great, with super friendly staff and amazing service. My only small gripe was that the TV was placed in a slightly odd spot.

Our family of three had a great stay in the family room, with a double bed, sofa bed in a separate lounge area, and a fridge. The hotel was very quiet, and staff were friendly. It’s about a five-minute walk into town, with paid parking available. They only serve bed and breakfast, and happy hour runs from 4-7pm. There’s a Domino's pizza across the road and a burger takeaway about three minutes away. Would definitely recommend staying here.
