Guesthouse Andrea

The location is a big plus for exploring Reykjavik, right next to Hallgrimskirkja Church and within walking distance of the BIS bus terminal for the airport. The guesthouse was quite good for the price, with a kitchen where we could cook our own meals, though it was unavailable around breakfast time, from about 6:30 to 8pm. The shared bathrooms were neat, and the receptionists were cool and helpful.

The location was good, and breakfast was basic but nice. I’ve stayed at this guesthouse twice, and both times there were small stains on the bedding, so they may need new sheets. The room smelled bad when I first walked in, though airing it out helped. Bathrooms were okay, but one per floor definitely isn’t enough at busy times. The luggage storage didn’t feel secure, just a room behind the kitchen anyone could wander into. At my first check-in, the gentleman handed me the key without explaining anything else.

The location was nice, but that was the only good part. We booked a double bed and got two singles. There was a persistent terrible smell in the shared spaces, staff didn’t respond, and the place seemed to be in constant disrepair. It felt more like a hostel. Abysmal guesthouse, avoid at all costs.

It’s a decent stay with a good, filling breakfast, and both staff members were really nice. The room was clean, but the hallway smelled bad. The public bathroom and shower need a new lock, and the toilet door on the 45 second floor needs fixing. Towels weren’t provided, so you have to ask and go to another location to get them. The water was far too hot because it was broken, but they fixed it for us, thank you.
