Hotel Local 101

The staff made us feel welcome right away, and they were incredibly polite. The hotel is tucked away from the crowds but still very conveniently located. Rooms were comfortable, and they let us leave our luggage when we arrived early. Breakfast was decent for the price. Food in Iceland is expensive, so a buffet is good value. Merci!

The staff were friendly and helpful with information the whole time, and breakfast was lovely. I especially liked the croissants, plus having coffee downstairs whenever we wanted was great after coming back cold from tours. We stayed four nights at Local 101 in Reykjavik, and the room was clean with a little terrace. We watched the sun rise and set there, and even saw the fireworks on the last day of 2025 from the room instead of heading downtown. A great choice.

The lift had a really cute retro look, and the service was great. The complimentary breakfast buffet was the real highlight for me: high quality, lots of variety, and I even got to try a shot of cod liver oil! You could hear music from downstairs and people moving around through the walls between rooms. It wasn't a big problem for us, though, since we were so worn out from travelling.

We came back for happy hour and, with the jet lag, ended up having an early dinner there. It was great. The staff kept offering helpful recommendations during the rest of our stay and were always accommodating. We spent four days and three nights in Iceland, and our first day at Local 101 started with a warm welcome and directions for free parking and a walk around the sights. I'd highly recommend staying here while visiting this beautiful country.
