Karuna Guesthouse

Quiet surroundings, and a 10-15 minute drive to the nearest little town for dinner. We really had no complaints: the room was a good size, the bed comfortable, and the pillows good. The hot tub and sauna are only a few steps away, and breakfast had nice options, including delicious baked goods. We could see chickens and horses on the property too. Great value for the price. This may have been our favorite Iceland stay, and we'd happily return and recommend it.

The hot tub water was very dirty and needs better upkeep. Aside from that, the place worked well for the price: simple rooms, self check-in and check-out, and stunning scenery around it. I also saw the most spectacular northern lights of my whole trip here, which made the stay unforgettable.

The decor is modern and beautiful, and I especially liked having a shared dining and living area where we could sit with coffee. I learned after booking that they serve breakfast in the summer, a nice bonus. There were plenty of choices and it was yummy. We didn't use the sauna or hot tub, though they looked great with beautiful views. Someone at reception said they had five (?) dogs, but sadly we didn't see any. We did spot horses and chickens instead!

Our triple room looked out toward the open mountains, with a breathtaking view. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable after a day of exploring. The big dining room was gorgeous, with tea and water available, and the shared kitchen was well equipped. Summer breakfast was free, simple but thoughtfully presented and very tasty. Horses around the property add to the charm, and there's also a hot tub and sauna. We felt completely at home in this lovely guesthouse and would definitely stay again if I return to Iceland.
