Kolkuós Guesthouse

With just 4 rooms, this is a peaceful, beautiful bed and breakfast in a remote spot. It sits right by the water on land with some of Iceland's oldest Viking heritage. The long drive from the main road and the hidden entrance may make you think you've gone the wrong way, but it leads to a little oasis. A perfect place to add a quiet day between all the busy tourist sightseeing.

The host made an excellent breakfast the next morning, one of our best experiences of the last two weeks. The guesthouse is right on the shore with stunning views, and far enough from the road to be absolutely quiet. We slept very well. There are 4 rooms, and even with 3 booked, we couldn't hear the neighbors. It's fully renovated, with wonderful rooms and a large, well-stocked living room. The kitchen was well supplied too, not just with a microwave but fully equipped. Finding the place from the north was tricky at first: you have to drive farther south than expected, then follow the sign down a long gravel road.

The host is super nice, and the location has magnificent views. We had the beautiful room with a balcony.

The host was very friendly, and we had interesting discussions. Breakfast together at the big table was nice. The rooms were perfect, and it was very quiet in this excellent spot right by the sea.
