Hotel Première Abano

It’s a pleasant spa town, and the hotel is top notch. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with a balcony and turn-down service. There were lots of nice treatments to choose from, including optional beauty services. My spouse had a mud bath, and we enjoyed the thermal pools, sauna, and salt cave.

I came here for my sister’s wedding and had a wonderful experience. The staff looked after us throughout the stay, and both my family and friends had a great time at this fantastic venue. I have only good things to say. We’re even thinking of making a visit every year a family tradition.

The grounds are attractive and the facilities are well kept, but I was surprised by all the glowing reviews. There’s lots of open space and hardly any staff around. Even getting a towel felt like something I had to sort out alone. The bistro had little atmosphere or charm, and the food wasn’t interesting. There was no service by the pool. The only waiter we saw seemed to be having a terrible day, or maybe just didn’t like the job. The evening music sounded dated, like we’d ended up in a 1950s time capsule. This place has potential, but it didn’t feel relaxing or attentive. I won’t be back.

We were never told that staff might enter our room while we were out. Soon after checking in, we went out for a quick lunch. When we came back, the curtains were closed though we’d left them open, the wardrobe was shut with our drying clothes inside, a lamp was on, and the bedspread had been taken off. It was obvious someone had been in the room. Reception said this was “procedure,” with cleaning staff entering in the morning and again after 3 PM to “prepare rooms for sleeping.” The receptionist also claimed this was “standard practice in five-star hotels.” We don’t accept that explanation. No one told us about this policy, and guests should give clear consent before staff enter, especially so soon after check-in. We got no apology or professional response. Reception was rude, and management took no responsibility. At first, the manager wouldn’t come speak with us and wanted to handle it over the phone. After we asked several times, he eventually appeared and said, “No, I won’t sign anything,” without explaining further. We were told we’d get a €250 refund, and a document was stamped to confirm it. But the manager refused to sign, and we never got the document. We still haven’t received any refund. Refusing to put the refund in writing felt like bad faith and dishonest intent. We feel completely scammed. We believe the hotel offers no security for guests’ belongings and shows zero professionalism. In our view, it doesn’t deserve five stars. We’re taking legal action, and we strongly advise others to stay away.
