The spa package we paid a hefty amount for was described as unlimited, but that only covered the pool. The sauna and other facilities came with extra fees, which I’ve never encountered at a hotel spa. We also weren’t told why our passports were taken at check-in. The room itself was bare, smelled bad, and was worse than a Motel 6, with an air conditioner that didn’t work in Italy in August, when it was 40C/100F. We’d booked a junior suite and unlimited spa access through secret escapes because the pictures on that site and Google looked appealing. What we found instead was a lobby in such poor condition that we were horrified, and the room didn’t match the photos either. We decided we couldn’t stay, gave up our 500 euro payment, found an acceptable hotel down the way, and left.

The staff were pleasant, and the rooms were clean, though the design feels a little dated. Breakfast let us down: the bagels and croissants were very dry, and the milk seemed watered down or possibly not real milk.

I’m sorry to say that some guests treated us differently because of our nationality. The hotel staff, though, were all welcoming and accommodating, and I love the place.

Super relaxing....

4/10
We slept badly and came home more tired than when we left. The rooms, especially the mattresses, were old and hard, and really uncomfortable. For somewhere meant for healing and relaxation, that’s a serious drawback. The benefits of the water and treatments don’t mean much if you can’t sleep well. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the pool area, though not very big, was well maintained.
