New Royal

We booked three rooms and all of them were comfortable, with everything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful and really tasty. The place is quiet, and the host was super welcoming. It's an affordable base for an Amalfi Coast holiday, with the main villages no more than an hour away. I'd encourage anyone looking for that to stay here.

San Lazzaro turned out to be much prettier than I expected, and wonderfully quiet compared with other places nearby. The bus stop is close, and the cats and dogs were friendly and happy to be petted. We loved walking down to Conca Dei Marini. On rainy days, a local cooking class was a good alternative. We also had sunset drinks at Grand Hotel Sant Orsola hotel, where the views were superb, and it's hard to believe the place wasn't busier. Just ask at reception. Getting around by bus from the main areas was a bit challenging, so plan your travel days carefully. When you arrive, I recommend asking a New Royal representative for tips and local insight. I came looking for an affordable place to see Amalfi and Positano, and had a great stay. For the price, the service, simplicity, and essentials made this a five-star experience.

We stayed in a quiet little town in the hills, away from the noise of Amalfi and Positano. The accommodation was clean and nice, and breakfast was very good, generous, and tasty. I especially liked the fruit. Communication with Vincenzo (owner) was fantastic, with very quick replies. When we left our passport behind, Vincenzo promptly sent it by express post to the south of Italy so we could carry on travelling. Thanks so much again! If we come to Amalfi, we'll definitely return to New Royal.

In August, forget about driving and take the bus! The place is close to the bus station and the center of Agerola, so you can at least get a seat on the bus down to Amalfi. The rooms are clean, the owner is helpful, and parking and breakfast are free. There's a great view from the center and some pleasant little restaurants. I found it much nicer here than down on the Amalfi coast.
