Camping Delfino

We had to wait an hour and a half before we could leave because checkout wasn’t possible before 9am, something nobody had told us. The pitches were filthy, with people walking dogs between the tents and leaving mess there. On top of that, a beach club about 100 metres away played incredibly loud music until 6 in the morning. Terrible campsite.

Albenga is well worth visiting, and the walk into town is manageable, though quite a trek. The campsite itself felt extremely cramped, almost like a refugee camp at first glance. There’s a small, stony, unkempt beach a short walk away, while using the pool at the hotel behind the site costs extra. The on-site shop had a really bad smell and barely seemed like a shop. I didn’t use the facilities because I wouldn’t risk it. Trains run through the night right beside the camp. At reception, the man was OK, but payment was due when leaving, and I wondered if staying past 10am would mean paying for another night. I wouldn’t recommend it.

You can walk to a nice beach, and the restaurant on site is decent enough. The staff were friendly and helpful, but facilities are basic. Hot showers cost 50 cents, and the ground is dirt, so keep that in mind if you’re pitching a tent. A noisy nightclub nearby kept going until at least 3am.

The campsite is close to town, which is a plus, but there’s noise late into the evening and again early in the morning. Dogs were also doing their business around the site. A hot shower costs 50 cents and lasts less than a minute. Mine cut out while I was washing the soap from my hair. At 28€ just for a tent, already expensive enough, I expected hot water.
