Colle Del Sole Hotel

The hotel has a lovely garden and pool, and we’d definitely stay again. Dinner was very good, with a different dish from that part of Italy each day. Breakfast had both sweet and continental options, including eggs, ham, cheese, and fruit. The machine coffee was very good, and espresso was available on request. Staff were friendly, and the owner was around every day and even came to see us off. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Alberobello’s center. The rooms are simple and clean, towels are changed daily, the mattresses are very good, and sound insulation is excellent. My only two complaints are that the room switches weren’t cleaned well and the balcony doors and windows. I’d recommend the hotel.

The pool was nice, the room was clean and spacious, and the bathroom and breakfast were good. Staff were friendly and attentive. We did find the price high, though it was what we expected for August in this part of Italy. The irritating part was the air conditioning: it was centrally controlled by computer and kept switched off during the day for some reason. The room panel did nothing, and we had to ask reception four times to turn it on. Very odd.

I didn't stay at this hotel, and my one-star rating is about the service from the gentleman at reception. I can understand that passing tourists may often ask to use the toilet, since there's not much on that road and everything closes after lunch. But after driving almost three hours to Alberobello, when nature calls, you can't control it. I asked very politely if I could use the bathroom and was told, "it's not possible." Perhaps he was trying to impress his friend. The hotel could ask non-guests for a small fee, and I would have been happy to pay. Based on this, I wouldn't stay here or recommend it when I return. In the service industry, even someone who isn't paying today could become a customer later.

Just a 10-minute walk from Trulo village, with restaurants and a cafe beside the hotel, plus a supermarket nearby. You can also catch a shuttle into town or elsewhere, so it's a good choice for a group. From outside it looks like a regular hotel, but the rooms are new, clean, and comfortable, with a big, very clean bathroom. There's a great pool and restaurants too. Best hotel in the area.
