The service was amazing, with special thanks to Tommaso, Elisa and Barbara. Just make sure you have a car if you want to visit the city or beaches beyond those at Porto Conte. The resort isn’t within walking distance, and public transport isn’t the best.

The views are spectacular, and we had an amazing week. The service was excellent and the food very good. Our room felt a little small and dated, but with everything else so good, that was something we could live with. There’s a daily bus into the city, with stops along the way, and reception has the timetable. Spa treatments were very good, but book a few days ahead to get an appointment. Keep an eye on your tab as you go: we were charged for an extra treatment we hadn’t had, though it was corrected. We’ll definitely come back. Next time we may rent a car through reception, where rentals start at two days and cost approximately 180 Euro.

We loved our stay. The grounds are lovely for exploring or relaxing by the beach and pool, and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The spa has great options and is easy to access. Breakfast was awesome, with so many choices for different nationalities.

We chose the junior suite because we wanted a restful few nights, and it delivered the rest we were looking for. The views and sunsets are beautiful, the pool is large and enjoyable, and the breakfast buffet was good. The beach is pebbly but fine with proper shoes. Our bed was amazing and the room comfortable, though the suite was basically two regular rooms joined together, leaving an awkward living area with an uncomfortable couch and a redundant table. The spacious bathroom had poor ventilation and a large humidity stain on the ceiling. The property has plenty of greenery in its small two-story buildings around a courtyard. Crickets were loud at night, but we found them calming. The hotel is nice, though it feels as if it has seen better days. The Sardinian night dinner was okay, but we ate better at nearby restaurants. Daytime burgers and sandwiches tasted fine, though they were overpriced. The gym was unimpressive for a hotel of this level, but enough for a quick workout. There’s also a tennis court, in poor condition and needing proper maintenance. We got good value and the essentials were there, but the place felt like it had received temporary fixes over the years instead of real upgrades.

The room was fine, though small, and the bed felt like two singles pushed together with a hard ridge. Since the hotel was nearly empty, it was very quiet, but I imagine the layout could make it noisy at full capacity. We came for a Friday in mid Oct, our first night visiting Sardinia. It seemed like a safe, if corporate, choice, and adults only was a major plus. On arrival, the view was amazing, and the place was clean and quiet with a nice pool. The receptionist told us they were closing on Sunday and that we could stay a second night. We agreed early on, which we regretted. Some staff seemed to treat guests as an inconvenience because closing was near, ranging from irritated to extremely rude. The barman was the worst. When I asked for a Campari soda, he snapped, “we don’t have,” then grudgingly said he could put Campari with sparkling water. The water he poured was flat. When I pointed that out, he opened a new bottle and poured a lot into the flat drink. I said it was now very diluted, and he angrily asked if he should make it again. It felt like trying to get a stroppy teenager to clean their bedroom. Pretty pathetic for a hotel claiming four stars, and it really soured the atmosphere. Asking staff to toast our gluten free bread at meals seemed to need a staff conference, though once they did agree, so that was nice. We only ate dinner there once. It was expensive and average, and with only about 8 tables occupied in the huge dining room, the atmosphere was weird. A more relaxed meal in the bar would have been better. I didn’t even ask about spa treatments because I couldn’t face the deep sigh, eye roll and tired explanation about closing soon that seemed inevitable. We don’t get holidays often, so it was disappointing to feel like a nuisance. Thanks to the few kind staff who were let down by unprofessional colleagues, especially Daniele the barman, who treated us like human beings. We’re Londoners and know tourists can be annoying, but that’s why we choose not to work in hospitality. If staff can’t keep up the service they surely aspire to until the last guests leave, management should close earlier in the season, or, if this was their best effort, perhaps consider a different career. This stay reminded us why we don’t go to big hotels, and we won’t be back.
