Residence Buganvillea

The reception lady was really sweet and helpful. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we managed to communicate and she helped with everything. The beach is just across the road, and the old town is a 20-30 minute walk away. Our room was clean when we arrived, though there were ants everywhere. Reception already knew about the ant problem and brought up some kind of bug spray, but it didn't work very well. The view is nice, although from the lowest floor you can't really see the ocean. If your balcony faces the beach and sea, the bar and restaurant below stay open until who knows when, and it's impossible to sleep. The kitchen has plates, glasses, and cutlery, plus a few pots and pans, but no proper knife, only a bread knife, and no scissors. The messy photos are my fault since I took them as we were leaving.

The woman at the desk was lovely to us and incredibly sweet, even with a bit of a language barrier. The location is great, about a minute from the beach, and I would stay in this area again, though I wouldn't stay here. The building is outdated, and the bar and restaurant below are extremely loud if your room faces the street. It honestly felt like people were on our balcony screaming, and the noise went on until 3-4 am. We dealt with ants throughout the visit. Staff tried to sort it out on the second day, but they came back quickly. There's weekly cleaning, some kitchen appliances, and dish soap. You have to take your own rubbish out, but the bins are near the building. There are only small supermarkets close by. My friend and I often walked 11-15 minutes to Conad, which was much better, though the heat made the walk difficult. The nearby restaurants are nice and the food is amazing, but there's hardly anything vegetarian. You can leave your luggage in a room downstairs, where there are also four toilets and two shower rooms. Those facilities didn't seem to be cleaned every day. The shower had strange buildup that looked almost like mold, though it worked for our last day. You get your own key to the luggage room and can use it throughout that day. Checkout is at 10 am, which is quite early. You can ask staff for a later time, but I don't know what it would cost. The location is great, the staff are nice, but the hotel is outdated and noisy at night. One area, “stairs 3,” has an elevator, which was nice, and I felt bad for the people in the areas without one.

The room was big and had everything we needed, and the staff were nice enough to help us order a taxi to the airport. The location was really good, close to the beach and to an affordable market. The cleaning could have been better.

I had a fantastic time at Buganvillea in Alghero. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was clean and comfortable. It's a relaxing place in a perfect location, just a short walk from the beach. Everything was better than I expected, and I'd definitely come back.
