They told us the elevator worked, but didn't say which one. We got trapped in the first for half an hour, and the phone number they gave us didn't work, so we eventually had to call 112 and get the fire brigade to free us. The other elevator was jammed too, with no signs warning that either was broken. Our room was on the 5th floor with no working elevator, and it was a letdown: tiny, with barely functioning air conditioning and a TV that wouldn't work. Nothing was plugged in, and there was no food or towels in the room as promised. Breakfast was terrible. I wouldn't stay here.

We stayed in May 2017, and the family-run guest house felt like home. One morning we made breakfast there and really enjoyed the fresh orange juice, with oranges and a juicer provided. Maurizio was a big help with getting around the city and gave us a map with illustrations. It was clean, safe, affordable, and just a few blocks from the Vatican, so I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a convenient, homey place in Rome.

This felt like a little gem: a very friendly host, fair prices, and a central spot within walking distance of lots of attractions. The rooms were clean and a decent size, with a shared kitchen and dining table. If you're coming from the airport, my tip is to take the S.I.T. bus shuttle to the Vatican area instead of the train. It stops at No. 2, and No. 74 is less than a five-minute walk from there, unless you have really bulky or heavy luggage.
