The location is the main thing going for it: it’s easy to get around nearby and the metro is close. Check-in was contactless, and there’s a shared kitchen with a reasonable set of basics. But for what we paid, plus the city tax, it really wasn’t worth it. I stayed five days and ran into several problems. The bed was just a mattress with a very thin cover, and it wasn’t comfortable after long days out sightseeing. Guests coming and going also triggered a loud ringing sound in the building, which woke me several times. Light sleepers should know about that. The room safe didn’t work, even though it was listed among the amenities. Since cleaning was only available on request every three days, I wasn’t comfortable letting anyone into the room with our belongings, so we went without cleaning for the whole stay. I contacted them about the safe, but they blamed the previous guest and didn’t seem interested in fixing it for me or later guests. When we opened the cupboard, the spare sheet inside was covered in the previous guest’s hair. We asked for the room to be cleaned the next day and had to be out by 10 a.m. so someone could deal with it.

The room was nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the shared kitchen had a coffee machine with complimentary capsules. The owner was easy to reach and straightforward to communicate with. Getting around was convenient, with the metro just a few steps away and the Vatican about a 5-10 minute walk. The issue was housekeeping: it was only available on request every three days, and we were asked to leave the door ajar while it was done. We didn’t want to leave our things in a room with the door open, so during our six-day stay it never got cleaned.

We stayed in the Colosseum room, and it really did feel like a home base in the middle of Rome. After days wandering around the city, it was lovely to come back somewhere comfortable and pretty. The rooms matched what was advertised, and although there are only three to choose from, they all seemed great. There’s a fridge, oven, and coffee machine shared by the guests, with complimentary coffee. My girlfriend and I spent five excellent days here. I’m from Portugal, and I can honestly say this felt like home for those five lovely days. I can’t recommend it enough.

The host was super efficient, and we had a very good stay. The rooms are nice. A few things could be better, though: there weren’t enough hangers, the pillows were really uncomfortable, and there was no full-length mirror. It’d also help to have mosquito nets. Flies and mosquitoes come in as soon as you open the windows.
