Hotel Amalfi

We booked this apartment for our family of five, including three young children, but the address took us nowhere. We were directed to meet at the Amalfi Hotel, where the property manager, Mrs. Paola, greeted us in a hostile way. The hotel staff were also rude and dismissive, and refused to help once they understood why we were there. They wouldn’t let us into the apartment because we had one extra guest, our six-year-old child. There was no alternative or flexibility. We were told to leave and ask Expedia for a refund. After we left, Paola and the property refused to refund us, so we lost the full amount for four nights without ever seeing the apartment. The negative reviews seem to describe similar problems, including claims that Paola is rude and combative, lies about offering help or refunds, and misrepresents events to protect the property. This felt like a scam to us, and we believe Expedia has done nothing to investigate or protect customers. Read the reviews carefully and avoid this property.

Paolo, the host, communicated really well and did a lot to help us enjoy our time in Amalfi. The apartment is in a great location, only a short walk from some of the best restaurants and bars. I’d definitely recommend it.

We stayed three nights with friends and were very happy with everything. The apartment was very clean and had modern equipment. Its central location made it easy to reach restaurants, breakfast bars, the port, shops, and sights. Paola was kind, helped us with everything, and gave us lots of useful tips for the area. A great base for trips nearby.

I had a frustrating and expensive experience with this Airbnb. We paid 800 euros for four nights, but the host said the payment hadn’t arrived and refused to let us in. They then demanded another 800 euros in cash. I was also told that hotel owner Paola had a history of scams and misconduct reported by the Amalfi police. I strongly advise against booking at her hotel. I wouldn’t wish this ordeal on anyone. ❌
