There were five of us, and our stay in this apartment was unpleasant for several reasons. The listing said there was a washer, but there wasn't one. The bedding was itchy, the bed frame felt poorly made, and none of us slept well. The shower door was broken and the drain was clogged, so two of us spent three hours trying to shower instead of half an hour and didn't get to bed until 3 a.m. We also weren't told about these bathroom problems, and were shown the two rooms without seeing the bathroom. Parking was presented as private in the listing, but on arrival we were made to pay 20 euros, with no notice beforehand. The host was described as a young graduate named Ketty, but the person who showed up was a middle-aged man. We found him unfriendly and dishonest. He took us to a restaurant, which we felt was to get a kickback, and offered a ride from town to the apartment for 25 euros, much more than the 15-euro taxi fare. We would like a partial refund for this experience.

The apartment is roomy and has a spectacular view from Pogerola, above Amalfi. Getting around takes effort: it's nearly 1,000 steps down to Amalfi center, and 177 steps up to Pogerola's main square, where you can catch a bus that takes about 20 minutes. The apartment was reasonably clean apart from the kitchen. There was a green bit stuck to the colander, mold in the juicer, and a sealed chocolate bar that was past its date and moldy. The grater still had parmesan on it, and the cupboards were a mess, with stained tablecloths and piles of dishcloths. The shower had two used-up bars of soap, and there was no hair dryer. With more care, this place could be fabulous.

We had a comfortable, welcoming stay in a beautifully furnished place, and its location was great. My wife, children, and I found the staff especially friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of tips for getting around the coast and visiting points of interest. We'd definitely come back for another vacation. Highly recommended!

There's a garden with lemon and fig trees, and a terrace looking out over Amalfi and the bay. The house sits on a cliff near Torre di Pagerola.

Great for people who love hiking. You'll need to walk, or really go up and down stairs, but if you enjoy nature, it's more than fine.
