Hotel Pavone

We spent a week at the Pavone Hotel in mid-July with my husband and our three-year-old son, and came away disappointed. The rooms were roomy and looked like the website photos, but the carpet and 1980s-style furniture felt dated, as other guests have mentioned. The entertainment was included in our quote and described as afternoon fun and evening activities for everyone, but we barely saw any. One young man was expected to handle the morning walks, afternoon activities, and evening entertainment. During our stay, the walks were the only thing offered, and they were mostly suited to older guests. One night he told us there'd be music in the entertainment room at the Melchiori Hotel, which has the same management. We got there before 10 p.m., but the person at reception said it was already fully booked, that there wasn't much entertainment this year, and that the entertainer couldn't manage everything. I can believe that, poor guy. The food also fell short of what the website promises with its claims of refined cuisine and gourmet pleasures. We weren't expecting gourmet meals, but that presentation had raised our expectations. On our last day, nobody asked how our stay had gone when we paid, and nobody had checked in with us during the week either. It didn't feel family-friendly. We got the impression that collecting the money mattered more than whether guests were happy. When we raised the issue of paying for entertainment we hadn't received, the owners didn't offer any solution. They just said they'd had problems with the entertainment staff that year.
