Agriturismo Rio Castello

The owner bakes cakes for breakfast every morning, and there are animals around, including a horse, goats, and chickens. Set among the green hills of Liguria, Rio Castello is a real find. Ancora and Laigueglia beaches are about a ten-minute drive away. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, this is the place.

Really nice stay. The rooms were very clean, the motel is great, and there are lovely animals around. That hammock was a bonus 👌👌👌.

The owner was friendly, and the breakfast was simple. Rooms are basic but clean. It’s a farmhouse up on the Andora hill, surrounded by nature and quiet. Just one small gripe: the hairdryer’s a bit old.

A heads-up if you drive a low car: the main entrance is steep. My Tesla Model 3 scraped on the way down, so call the owner first if your vehicle sits very low. She kindly let us use another entrance; otherwise we couldn’t have parked, and stopping on the hairpin bends wasn’t an option. We came for a short break. The farmhouse is up in the hills, after a few hairpin turns, and there’s no public transport, so you need your own vehicle. There’s parking on the property and a modest green space shared with guests in the other rooms. Our room was tidy, with a double bed and a bunk bed, enough for four people. Breakfast is available on site, prepared by the owner. It’s home-style, so don’t expect a standard hotel buffet. All in all, a good place.
