The warm welcome was a big plus. We were given coffee, enough toilet paper for our three-week stay, and a discount card for activities in the Valley. The house is attractive, roomy, and comfortable, with space for both the bed and sofa in the kitchen area. But there were things that could have been better. The balcony looked more usable in the photos: it had no plants, and the few there were dry, dead, and covered in cobwebs. There was also no light on the landing, making the lock and steps hard to see at night. During the hot spell, the bedroom window couldn’t be opened because of the apartment’s layout and where the bedroom sits. Heat and strong smells came up from a restaurant kitchen below, and one fan couldn’t keep the inside temperature from reaching 30 degrees. The washing machine wasn’t working, which was a problem on a three-week stay in that heat, and the bedroom had no bedside lamps. Once the cooler air arrived, the house became much more comfortable. To me, it seems best suited to winter, when its central location and warmth are a plus. The view by itself doesn’t make up for the things that need attention.
