Borgo Degli Ulivi Residence

The staff were incredibly nice and communicated so well, especially about our unusual check-in and check-out times. Our villa and the whole property were beautiful, well kept, and peaceful. The clean pool area alone made the stay worthwhile. It's tucked into a quiet part of Arbatax, but still close to the port and Rocce Rosse. This will be a hard standard to beat for villa or resort stays.

After two weeks traveling around Sardinia, I found this place below average. The apartments look like upscale accommodation, with facilities and a pool, but in reality it's a hotel complex with reception behind a wall. The apartments are poorly equipped, and the hot water tank is so small that after washing dishes, two people probably won't have enough hot water to shower. Checkout is at 10am, with no option to extend it. The mosquitoes aren't the accommodation's fault, but there are so many that sleeping with the window open feels risky.

Please do yourself a favor and never book a room here. It looked nice, or I wouldn't have chosen it, but the owners were nothing but thieves. When our flights were canceled because of the covid situation, I had booked four hotels and this was the only one that refused to refund even a single euro. We eventually had to reschedule using their "corona voucher," by which point the price had doubled. The second reservation through Booking.com included free cancellation, so we finally managed to cancel it. Even so, Borgo degli ulivi refused to refund us again, which was illegal! They also asked for more money and sold the room to other clients. Summer 2020 must have been very profitable for this terrible hotel. In short, they are terrible hosts who only want your money. Don't go there.
