The house felt like a dream, in a quiet, really authentic area about a 10-minute drive from Riva del Garda. The host was lovely, though they unfortunately don't speak English, so we had to use a translator. Our room was great, modern and air-conditioned, and the private bathroom was spotless.
The roof garden is a lovely place to take a break if the busy tourist areas get overwhelming. The house has portraits painted by the host, and the rooms are spacious and neat, with a few simple cultural decorations. The whole family is ready to help day or night, giving the place a real Italian family feel. Worth staying here.
The room was so hot and humid, and there was no air conditioning, just a fan. We were melting. Check-in was strict to the scheduled time, which I think was early afternoon. We'd asked if we could get in a little earlier after a ferry and highway trip that morning, but they wouldn't let us. In the meantime, a relentless storm kept us stuck in the car for about two hours. This was years ago, but it looks like some things haven't changed. You still have to take your shoes off before going into the room, which is a hassle if you're coming and going a lot. The bathroom is in the hallway near the other guest rooms, not in the room. Think about that before you go.
Breakfast was all sweet items: packaged croissants, a little fruit and yogurt. We were left waiting outside when we arrived while the woman checked us in, then she opened the door. They ask you to remove your shoes for hygiene, but the room itself could have been cleaned more thoroughly. The woman tries to joke around, but her manner comes across as grumpy and unfriendly. The website said the room had a private bathroom, but didn't say it was outside the room, on the same floor as the other rooms.
We stayed with my partner for New Year's Eve 2024, and I strongly advise against this place. After letting us check in and giving us a room, management messaged me at 8 pm through other people on social media, saying there was a problem with the rooms. At first I thought it was just a mistake, which can happen. But when we returned from dinner on the Garda shore at the Santiago guest house in Arco, our suitcase had been left outside the room. We didn't stay, and although everything had been paid, they didn't even refund the tourist tax. Apparently the owner hadn't checked who had actually booked. The only solution she offered was that, at worst, she could have let us sleep on the garage floor. It felt like a scam.
