Grand Hotel Arenzano

We were disappointed by the beach across the road, and the stay felt expensive. After three nights in late September 2025, we wouldn't recommend this place, and it left us with a sad feeling about Arenzano. The hotel seems overrated and in need of a reassessment, and I don't think it merits four stars. It does have some good points, like the restaurant, but much of the hotel had wound down after summer. We couldn't get food near the pool, and the restaurant served its dinner menu at lunchtime. When we asked about that, we were told it was normal, which was hard to understand when the place was pretty full.

We stayed in a suite with two adults and one child. The location was good and the room clean, with a fairly clean bathroom with two sinks. The only drawback was that some rooms, including ours, don't have elevator access, so we had to carry our suitcase up one floor.

The hotel has plenty of history, and its age adds some charm. The staff were all very nice, polite, and responsive, and the breakfast was really generous, almost like what you'd get in a 5-star hotel. You can charge an electric car here for an extra fee, and parking costs money if you arrive by car. Sound insulation is very poor. We could hear the neighbors sneezing. Since the hotel is next to the road, open windows can also make it loud at night, though you can close them and use the AC.

The hotel interior isn't new, but it's kept in great shape and was extremely clean. Our room was spotless, tidy, and well maintained throughout. We left our French bulldog there during the day, and the staff treated him so well that he felt safe and calm. The location is great, and there's a private beach with incredibly clean water. Swimming there was a pleasure. The free shuttle between the restaurant and beach was very handy, and you could pick from two complimentary drinks on the beach. The restaurant food wasn't to my taste, but they didn't charge us for it, which felt fair and respectful. Valet parking was convenient too: staff took the car and parked it near the building. We were delighted with our stay and I'll definitely come back.
