Casa Argenti

The room had fabulous views, and everything else was perfect. Casa Argenti became our favorite stop on the whole route through Umbria, when we arrived in Arrone on our fourth day of walking. Elga and her mother gave us such a warm welcome. Italian breakfast was included, and that evening we could also have dinner in Elga’s “home restaurant” for a reasonable price. It was no ordinary meal. She used to be a private chef on a yacht before returning to her hometown to open this BnB, and that experience showed in all the details. She easily accommodated my dietary restriction and made an absolute feast for the two of us. It felt especially lovely because she serves only around six people at a meal. A real little gem.

We didn’t stay overnight, but stopped for dinner and breakfast while walking the via di Francesco. Both meals were delicious and felt made with care. The intimate setting made us feel like we were eating at a friend’s home, and Elga was a gracious host. We enjoyed talking with her too.

Our quad room was superb, with loads of space, very comfortable beds, and a large, well-kept bathroom. Elga was pleasant and helped us with everything we needed. The surroundings were quiet, clean and beautiful. A great place to stay when visiting southern Umbria.

Dinner and breakfast were the real highlights. Elga is a very talented chef who pays remarkable attention to the ingredients, and you can taste the difference. Try it and you’ll understand what I mean. She welcomed us herself and told us about the village’s history and her lovely idea for opening Casa Argenti. Arrone was new to me: a small village with a 15th-century church perched on its promontory, a historic Italian masterpiece kept in beautiful condition by people who love the place. It’s a must-see. Our accommodation was spacious, clean and beautiful, with a huge shower and an extra comfortable XL bed. Congratulations on everything, we’ll definitely come back.
