The owners' kindness made up for rooms that could use an update, and the value was excellent. You’re just steps from the center of Ascea, with a lovely view and a pool at the property. Ascea Marina is a 10-minute drive away.

The main downside is getting there, since the road network is outdated and poorly maintained. Once there, though, the place is very clean, harmonious, and well kept among the centuries-old olive trees on the hillside above Ascea. Rooms come in different sizes to suit guests' needs, and the staff are helpful throughout the day. The hot tub/pool and solarium are convenient if you don’t want to walk to the sea, and use is included in your stay. Breakfast costs extra and needs to be booked.

Villa Santa Sofia in Ascea makes a good base for a Cilento holiday, with a lovely sea view and everything nearby. It’s away from the holiday crowds, and the sea is about ten minutes away. Our room was spotless, with air conditioning and a fully working kitchen. Since the property is up in the mountains, we slept well at night. The owners were very welcoming. A solarium with a whirlpool is being set up. Recommended!

The drive up the hill takes a little effort, but the relaxing stay at Villa Santa Sofia is well worth it. The owners are very courteous, and the beautiful view can be enjoyed from the hot tub too. Everything is kept with meticulous attention to detail, which made the place a real pleasure.
