Borgo Antichi Orti Assisi

The grounds are lovely and bucolic, and Martin gave us top notch service. Breakfast was delicious each morning, and we’d happily stay again, though we’d ask for a different room. Ours was nice, but the shower dripped and we could hear the people above us. It’s very close to Assisi. We walked about 20 minutes uphill to the center instead of driving and looking for parking, and it helped work off all that great Umbrian food. There’s plenty of easy parking, which makes this a good hotel if you’re traveling by car.

There were beautiful views of the city above us and the valley below from all around the property. When we had to leave early for our train, the staff arranged a taxi and packed breakfast boxes for us. They were amazing.

We picked the right place, especially for the friendly people working at the cocktail bar and breakfast. The view looking up is unbeatable, and the walk into town takes about 20 minutes uphill. I slept well, with a comfortable bed and pillows I loved. The restaurant food was delicious, and the service polite, though quite leisurely. I’d recommend staying here. The small pool was still closed during the first week of June, even with temperatures around 85 degrees. They told me they were getting it ready to open. We’d booked mainly for the pool, so that was disappointing, though we should have checked first.

We’ll be back. The staff were warm and helpful, and we enjoyed the walk up the hill. Our family had a great time in the swimming pool, and the dinner was so tasty that people came just to eat there. Good wine, too. The room was well designed, and those window shades blocked out all the light, so I slept really soundly. It was a perfect room for us.
