It didn’t feel like a four-star stay, two or three stars at best. We’d booked a family room with a baby cot, but were shown to a regular room with just an extra single bed, far from suitable for me, my wife, my mother, and our 11-month-old. There was no cot. Even after I showed the booking and several reconfirmations, we were told nothing could be done. After a tense conversation, thankfully other guests arrived and it turned out they’d been put in our room by mistake. There were several other problems: the toilet seat was broken, toiletries were short, there was no bottled water, and the restaurant was closed on our first night. The main pool had no water, while the other pool was green and freezing. On the better side, the restaurant was reasonable in both quality and price. On our last night, they delivered some nice pasta to our room.

The breakfast server was super efficient and always friendly, and front desk clerk Alessandro went the extra mile for us. Monica and her SPA team were especially helpful, and we had a great massage that I’d really recommend. The facilities were well maintained, the pool was clean, the breakfast was great, and the restaurant was outstanding. Thanks, we’ll be back next year!
10/10
The room had a rustic style typical of the local area, and the location was stunning. We were really impressed by the service and the food, and we’re definitely planning to return. My fiance and I spent a weekend at La Grottella last April, using a special offer that included the SPA, dinner, and breakfast. The attached pictures are ones I took at sunset.
8/10
The staff were lovely and gave us space while making sure we felt at ease. I went with my girlfriend after buying a spa coupon, and the quiet Sunday afternoon meant we could relax without a crowd. The soothing lights in the pool were a highlight, along with the Turkish bath. It’s about 60 km from home, but I’d still come back before long. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a break.
10/10
The price felt fair, especially for the level of service. I had lunch at Masseria Grottella and ordered the pasta with branzino. It was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The service was great too, and my celiac friend and I were really surprised and grateful for the care and options offered for people with celiac disease.
