B&B Shining

The location is great, just a few steps from the beach, where it feels a bit like the Caribbean. Corrado is a wonderful, friendly host with lots of useful tips for restaurants and whatever excursions you’re looking for. The B&B shining is a beautiful place to stay, and he made sure none of our needs were left unmet. The rooms are very clean and stylish, and the breakfast is incredibly good and prepared with care. Every day we had a fresh homemade cake from his mom, while his Dad looks after the beautiful flowers around the house. This is the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at. Grazie mille!

The setting made exploring Sicily easy, whether by train, bus, or car, and Avola itself is a lovely, peaceful town with beautiful beaches and countryside. The B&B is just a couple of minutes from a broad sandy beach and the promenade. My hosts were generous and welcoming while still giving us space. The tasteful, comfortable decor felt new, and breakfast was a treat, with local fruit, excellent coffee, and Sicilian specialties. After plenty of travel, this was easily my best B&B stay.

My girlfriend and I have now returned to this family-run B&B three times, around September over the past three years. It's a handy base for exploring southeastern Sicily by car, with places like Ragusa, Syracuse and Ortigia, Catania, Modica, Scicli, and Noto within reach. The nearest beach is only a couple of minutes away on foot, and they'll lend you an umbrella and chairs. There's also a great rosticceria nearby for a quick bite. The four rooms are cozy, modern, and well equipped, and the bathrooms are spotless, with lovely maiolica tile showers. There's excellent air conditioning and a small fridge with a complimentary bottle of water for the first night. They clean daily, even though it doesn't really feel necessary. Breakfast each morning has sweet and savory choices, and you might share it with one or several family members and the other guests. The whole family is lovely. For me, the service feels more like a three or four star place. Good price and location, and the room numbers have a story, so ask them about it.

At B&B Shining, a shaded terrace, a large room, and a nice bathroom made for a comfortable stay. They were very friendly and had no problem with early check-in, late checkout, or a big Scandinavian breakfast. The host speaks English really well, and gave us useful local advice for Avola, which is touristy but beautiful.
