Residenza Borgo Marino

Great.

We spent seven nights at Borgo Marino Residence B&B, from August 16-23, and the price for those dates was unbeatable. The grounds were lovely, and the private pool was cleaned every day. The residence itself felt dated, though, and the owner was consistently kind and available for any questions or requests during our holiday. The apartment was clean, but its interior needed attention, especially the beds and entrance shutters. The rooms were poorly maintained, and even a small investment would make a big difference. The bed in the kitchen was uncomfortable, with many broken slats. The main shutter wouldn't close, so at night we had to choose between shutting the glass door and losing ventilation, or leaving it open.

We paid a good price and found the house clean. I recommend my place for two people, though we ended up staying four. The kitchen had enough for breakfast, but supplies were very basic. Antonio is very kind and takes care of everything. If you're a keen homemaker, bring your own camping box. Still, that's fine.

We booked a two-room apartment through tour operator Napoleon, advertised as a four-star property, but it turned out to be more like two stars. The vegetation was overgrown, and there were ants and insects everywhere. There was no private parking, bar, Wi-Fi or barbecue. Apart from a TV and fan, the apartment had no amenities, and there were no pans, pots or coffee makers. The toilet was loose, and the bidet leaked badly enough to flood the whole bathroom. I asked to move to another apartment but got nowhere. All they did was provide a coffee maker and repair the bidet.
