Hotel & terme Bagni di Lucca

The air-conditioning started leaking water about an hour after we arrived, at 20:30. It was dripping quickly and making a very loud noise. When we told the receptionist, she said she couldn't help. She also said reception had closed at 8pm, although the sheet on the sheep said 9:30pm. That left me, pregnant and travelling with our one-year-old, with no solution. I couldn't sleep until 2am. Even switched off, the unit made a loud noise every 30 minutes, and there was also a dog barking loudly outside. We'd booked a room for two adults and a child, but there was no baby bed. Our child couldn't sleep between us because the room had two single beds. I don't understand why the room was bookable if there was nowhere for the child to sleep, but we agreed to stay anyway. I had booked our accommodation a night too late by mistake, so I had to arrange this place in a hurry. We paid 165€ for one night through Expedia, and I called ahead to check the booking had gone through. The internet said they spoke English, but the very rude woman on the phone made no effort to communicate because I only spoke English. At reception, she made us feel unwelcome too. If you don't like your job, change it. The receptionist was so unfriendly and there was no problem management. The only reason for one point is that she gave our little one a bottle of milk. All in all, a very bad experience.

The views were stunning, and everyone in the family enjoyed the thermal pool, outdoor loungers, and natural steam grotto. We spent the day at the spa to relax together, and at €23 per person for the whole day, I thought it was excellent value. The reception staff spoke very good English and were informative, accommodating, and professional.

It’s really convenient that the hotel’s thermal pool is on site and linked to the wellness centre. In winter especially, being able to wander around in a bathrobe is so comfortable. The price is reasonable for what you get, and as frequent clients we sometimes get a free late checkout when possible. Definitely recommend it.

We enjoyed the warm indoor pool during our winter stay. Nice hotel, and the staff were really friendly. Recommended!
