La Posta was our favorite stay across several weeks in Italy. We went to a very high-end resort straight afterward and spent the whole time wishing we'd stayed at La Posta instead. The pools and spa shut early most nights, except Fridays and Saturdays. I'd suggest longer opening hours, since it's difficult to have dinner and then return for a soak. The one night we managed to do that was our favorite part.

Alberto arranged a private cooking session with Chef Marco, and that became one of the best parts of our trip. His welcome was warm, he showed us around the facilities and our room, and talked us through an upgrade I'd asked about. We kept our original booking because it was already lovely. We stayed in [204 Room] at La Posta in Bagno Vignoni, and the whole experience surpassed stays we've had at the Four Seasons and other luxury hotels around the world. This is a quiet, deeply Tuscan place with history and atmosphere, not a sleek modern hotel. The property feels authentic and carefully put together without being pretentious. Our room had heritage furnishings, thoughtful touches, crisp cozy linens, and even a working vintage rotary phone. Housekeeping was impeccable, and fresh fruit and water were always there. There was also a tiny bouquet in the toilet bowl when we arrived, a charming surprise. The staff were kind, attentive, and focused on making guests feel welcome. The hotel itself is stunning, and I only wish we'd stayed longer. The thermal pools usually close at 8:00 PM, though they stay open later on Fridays and Saturdays. A late soak beneath the stars would've been magical. The spa was the one area that felt different from the rest of the hotel. Its staff seemed less warm and sometimes stiff or unfriendly. I also found the treatment I booked underwhelming, and wouldn't recommend it. The best part was nodding off a few times during it. Still, that didn't take away from one of our most memorable hotel stays. La Posta's appeal comes from its timeless beauty, sense of place, and hospitality.

My wife said the massage was the worst she'd ever had. We both found it far too gentle to feel any pressure, even after asking several times for firmer pressure. The staff said it was a “relaxing” massage and that they couldn't adjust it. When I raised the issue with reception afterward, they repeated that it was a relaxing treatment and should have been “medium” pressure. It definitely wasn't medium; it felt like oil being rubbed over the skin, with little to no pressure. We were disappointed by the staff's defensive response to our feedback, and based on how they answer other negative reviews, I expect a defensive reply here too. In my opinion, the spa and hotel cost far too much for what they offer. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for massages and spa experiences.

We tried the half-day package while staying in Siena for vacation and enjoyed it enough to stop for a few more hours on our way back to Rome. On a future trip, we'd definitely like to stay at the hotel for a few days.

I came just for the spa and had a great, relaxing half-day soaking in the hot natural springs. The thermal baths are in a swimming pool, with lovely views and a beautiful setting. It was a welcome restful break between all the walking.
