La Serra Resort - Italy Village

The beach and trees are amazing, and the location is great. The food and service, though, were so bad that I was deeply disappointed. The food felt like waste being served to guests just because they didn’t want to throw it away. I can’t understand why they pay the chef. He seems not to know what he’s doing, and should try the food before giving guests what felt like garbage. This was especially sad in the Napoli area, which should be known for some of Italy’s best food. It’s a really pretty place with a lot of potential. I’ve never wanted a vacation to end before, but this time I couldn’t wait, and not in a good way.

The cedar forest and grounds are quite beautiful, and the beach is decent, though seaweed sometimes floats in the water. The coffee and croissants were delicious and made the disappointing food situation a little easier. At dinner, some of the food looked like waste, and the tomatoes at breakfast seemed to have been cut the night before and looked a bit bad by morning. We’ve camped in Italy many times, but this was a bad experience, and for the first time in my life I felt ashamed of Italy here. The website said every room had air conditioning, but they first put us in one without it. After two days of trouble, they moved us to an air-conditioned room farther from the sea. We also chose the place because the website listed tennis courts, but there wasn’t even a tennis net. Is it really so hard to buy one for a court? If this had been my first time in Italy, it would have been a complete shock.

The area is beautiful and the sea is good, but service was terrible at every turn. On the beach, staff may throw your things off a sun lounger and give it to someone else who paid more. The restaurant had dirty tablecloths and rude waiters. At reception, they never seemed to understand anything, didn’t want to help, and treated people badly. The waiters, administration, and beach lifeguards all showed greed and rudeness.

The beach was good, though the sand is mixed with black sand and gets up to 60 degrees in the sun. There were people of all ages. Sound around the hotel was decent, entertainment was decent, and the houses were just okay. People’s attitude seemed to be, “You paid them, so it’s good.” Food was bad. I was a teenager traveling with a group of 60 children. We stayed in houses of different classes. Some had normal houses, while others, including me, got the oldest ones. Imagine putting kids in the oldest house with no air conditioning and not even a fan in 40°C (104°F) heat during the day and 30°C at night. That’s crazy. The same food was served for all 7 days, which isn’t normal. Pasta shaped like wings. Ahhh. The internet was awful. As a tourist, paying for internet is quite expensive, and although it wasn’t bad all the time, the connection sometimes failed, so I was hoping for Wi-Fi. I was really disappointed that it was available only at reception and in the restaurant. It would have been nice to have it in every house, but with so many people connected, it couldn’t keep up. I’d give the place 3/10.
