B&B la Perla & Suites (Adults Only)

The location is much farther from the city center than we expected. It takes about an hour each way by bus or train. There’s a supermarket on the corner, and the marina with a few restaurants is within walking distance. Our room was spacious, had a comfortable bed and a mini fridge for cold drinks, and we received a welcome Prosecco. The check-in time was negotiable. There were serious problems, though. The shower kept swinging from very hot to very cold. The jacuzzi needs cleaning and maintenance: switching on the bubbles brought a very putrid smell from the pipes. Its drain plug hole was only glued on, wasn’t sealed properly, and had a very thin string holding it. It sometimes made a loud grizzly noise, and water came on even when nobody was using it. The neighbors talked very loudly. In the evenings and at night, the electrics kept cutting out and waking us. Some plug sockets were dodgy and weren’t European sockets, and there was no bathroom socket for charging shavers. After checkout, the owner messaged us and tried to charge €100 for the jacuzzi plug hole, which was already broken from the start of our stay. She threatened to go to the police. The hole was held by a thin piece of string, attached to a drain turner that wasn’t sealed and was very loose. It came off with very little force, even when touched. We weren’t happy about being scammed over something we hadn’t damaged. We hardly used the property except to sleep, and after our stay we reread reviews from previous guests, some of whom had mentioned this kind of scam. Be very, very careful.
