Barion Hotel

The large parking area worked well for our bus, and the clean, comfortable rooms suited our group. We visited Barion Hotel in February 2026 with the Music School of Kavala, Greece, and were very pleased with the stay. Breakfast on the 6th floor was a highlight, with a breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea. On our last night, we played and sang traditional Greek music for the staff to thank them and say goodbye. The staff handled our group’s needs with patience, professionalism, and great hospitality. Sabrina guided us through each day’s explorations, and Maurizzio and Giovani were very friendly. The location is a good base for exploring the Puglia region. Highly recommended for school trips and large groups.

The beds were comfortable, the hotel was clean overall, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s easy to reach by car, right beside the highway, though thankfully the traffic noise doesn’t carry into the rooms. Parking is another plus compared with other hotels. Breakfast was disappointing: only the pastries were any good, while the rest was a disgrace to Italian cuisine. The bathroom had mold.

A gas station next door was handy, and it’s about 20 minutes from Bari and the port. We picked the hotel because we needed parking and didn’t mind driving into the city, but the price and quality don’t match. After a long drive, we arrived at night to receptionists who were neither kind nor welcoming. They stared at us while we carried our luggage upstairs, until the elevator doors closed. They also told us about breakfast and the price very rudely, assuming we wouldn’t want it. The next morning, the woman at the desk was great, smiling and helpful, when we left our things there for a couple of hours. But when we returned, the staff had changed and the rudeness and dismissive attitude were back. They didn’t even say goodbye. If you want peace and quiet, don’t stay here. We were allowed to keep the room until 11, but woke very early because cleaners kept banging things in the rooms above and next to ours. A very disappointing experience.

The breakfast on the roof terrace comes with an incredible view, and the food was delicious. There was a wide choice, including fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of high-quality cakes, like you’d get from a good pastry shop. Many were cream cakes, and delicious. The letdown was the lack of vegan options, with no alternative milks, which a four-star hotel should have in 2025. The hotel is very clean, and parking on site is free. There’s a small fridge, though the hotel is quite far from Bari itself. I can still recommend it if you have a car.
