The owner is crazy.

I booked this B&B by phone after seeing lots of positive reviews online, and arrived Friday at 9:00 PM. After checking in and paying, I found the room completely dirty, with dust and hair on the nightstands. The bathroom was awful. There was no phone because, the owner said, it had been stolen, and the shower was separate from the bathroom. There was gym equipment in the room, including exercise bikes, all covered in dust. I found hair in the bed too. I called the owner, who tried to fix things by changing the sheets and cleaning the nightstands and the rest of the room. I politely asked for a refund and said he could keep the trouble, but he said he'd issued a receipt and wouldn't refund me. I stayed after the sheets were changed. The next day I asked to arrange a room cleaning, but he said the cleaning lady doesn't work Saturdays. I left and lost a night's payment, which the owner refused to return. Check the room before paying.

My partner and I booked through Booking.com and arrived in the evening, after trying dozens of times to reach the owner with our arrival time. He wasn't there for check-in, and we waited for over an hour, trying him again and asking local shopkeepers if they knew him. He never came, so we had to find an alternative flight, which caused us a lot of trouble. When I told Booking.com, I learned the owner had reported that we were the ones who didn't show up, so he could charge us for the whole stay. He was out of luck, and should be ashamed of his lack of civility.

The room was spacious and clean, and the owner was friendly. He even picked us up at the train station. It's near the historic center, and I highly recommend it.
