The room was so cramped that there was nowhere upstairs to open my suitcase, and I had to leave it on the ground floor. The upstairs bed smelled strongly musty, and the sofa bed had underwear stuffed inside and smelled stale and moldy. The pillows were thin and uncomfortable, with no pillowcases. The narrow stairs had short, steep steps and felt extremely dangerous, especially on the way down. I had to descend backwards, gripping the handrail with both hands. They seem especially risky for children or anyone with health problems. There was no broom or mop, so even basic cleaning during the stay wasn't possible. A disappointing experience, and I wouldn't come back.

We picked this place for its central location, but after one night my wife had a broken arm and I had a sprained foot from falling down the stairs. They felt like basement stairs and were very hard to use. If you're not extremely careful, it's easy to fall, as happened to both of us. The renovation also seemed inadequate and well below the standard we'd expected.

We were three sisters on holiday, and we'd happily stay here again. The house was very clean and had all the equipment we needed, with everything within walking distance. Bari Centrale is 1.3 km away along a flat route, so getting there and back was easy. Our host was wonderful and explained everything clearly. She brought us wine and lovely focaccia, and was so kind and helpful. Many thanks and lots of love to Gigi and her family.

We arrived tired at 8:30 pm, and the owner had left us a pizza and a small bottle of wine, which meant we didn't need to find a restaurant that evening. He was very welcoming and gave us plenty of useful advice. The apartment is lovely, unusual, and spread across four levels, with a little rooftop terrace on the top floor. Its location is excellent. I'd have rated it five stars, but those steep stairs make it unsuitable for families with young children.
