The complete lack of soundproofing is shameful for a place claiming to be four-star. We spent three nights listening through a thin connecting door to every sound from the neighboring room, instead of sleeping. There was a drowning cough at 2 a.m., nose blowing, intestinal gas, everything, until the neighbor’s alarm started at 6 and went off every nine minutes. The room could have been cleaner, with some mold and dust, but that wasn’t the main problem. When I went to reception at night to ask for help, maybe another room, nobody was there. I rang the bell and knocked, but I think the concierge slept well. Breakfast has to be ordered over WhatsApp, which works if you use WhatsApp, but I don’t know what happens if you don’t. Neither morning did we get what we ordered: two espressos instead of a macchiato, everything except the bread, and so on. Why not use a checkered paper instead? A minor but annoying issue. Tomatoes were the only vegetables you could ask for, and they were dirty, so wipe them before eating. The surroundings were disappointing, with garbage everywhere. It’s shocking how carelessly people dispose of it, given southern Italy’s beautiful monuments and coastline. I’m giving one star because the stay was disappointing compared with the image presented, for example, on the website.

The garden and pool area were lovely and calm, with olive and pine trees all around the beautiful entrance garden. The location is convenient, near Bari airport and close to the center. The rooms were fine and the bed was clean, but the floor was dirty and needed a deep clean, especially under the bed. The bathroom is very old and needs refurbishment. Breakfast was good, and the staff were kind.

The grounds were lovely, and we had a lovely large room. It was too cold to swim while we were there, but nobody offered information about the pool or spa. The hotel is historic and furnished to suit that style. It’s outside Bari, so taxis to the city center cost E15-E20. The menu wasn’t extensive, and there were no self-service tea or coffee facilities like a kettle.

We left a day early because we weren’t comfortable with how unclean the room was. There was a lot of mold in the bathroom, and the floors were filthy, the cleaning staff should really use a vacuum. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was amazing.
