The shower felt cramped even for me at 70kg, so it could be larger. The room itself was well laid out, with useful storage, a workspace and plenty of sockets, plus some unusual artwork. Breakfast at the cafe downstairs was nice, and the concierge app had helpful recommendations. It was easy to find, about a 5-minute walk from the Barumini monument, with plenty of parking outside. Before arrival, communication was great, and check-in was fully remote: just enter your password at the outside and room doors.

By day, the light comes through the French window and fills the white room, making it seem as if the outside has moved indoors. The whole effect turns your sense of the world upside down. At night, the silhouette of an inverted Christmas tree appears on the curtain in a striking cone of light and shadow, with a pop-art feel. The setup is spare, with white curtains and that single French window acting as the divide between inside and out. I found myself wondering whether we’re looking at the world, or whether an unexpected, upside-down world is looking back at us. This room feels like a place to think about how we see things, not just somewhere to sleep. Worth trying if you’re after a moment of reflection.

The room and bathroom were clean, but I only found out on arrival that the rooms are cleaned every two days. There’s no mini-fridge, and the water heater is so small that two people can barely shower comfortably without running out of hot water. The breakfast was just a hot drink, a pastry and packaged juice, served at the bar downstairs, which we also weren’t told about beforehand. Before our arrival, they sent entry codes and Wi-Fi details by WhatsApp. I’d clearly said I was traveling with two elderly people, one with reduced mobility, but nobody mentioned the several stairs to get to the accommodation or offered assistance. There’s no staff on site, just other guests, and customer service felt nonexistent. The art and decor seemed questionable to me, almost creepy, though that’s subjective and not why I’m leaving a negative review. I wouldn’t return. At this price, there are several more appealing choices that fit the area better, including small hotels in town or rural stays nearby.

Despite the owners’ kindness and how distinctive the place is, I wouldn’t recommend it. We stayed one night as a family, and the staff were truly fantastic, friendly and efficient. Our room was spotless when we arrived around 6:00 PM, but the indoor lights were very dim. I understand the art installations, but at that hour I didn’t want to sit in the dark. There was also a strong sewer smell at first, though we managed to get rid of it by running the toilet for a bit.
