We asked for two different tasting menus so we could share, and the owner said he’d put together something varied. They were €68 each, with two glasses of wine, but the bill came to €227. When we questioned the total, even though we’d eaten what was listed on the menus, he called it “different” and gave a string of excuses. It felt ridiculous. The food looked like it was trying hard to be fancy, but the flavors didn’t work well together. The orange overwhelmed the truffle ravioli, and the hazelnuts took over the cocoa pasta with meat. The Parmesan tasted as if it had been grated in advance and left sitting out. For a restaurant built around truffle, fresh truffle was grated on just one dish, and only after we asked. The photo shows the glass of wine. In the end, it felt like a tourist trap. No.

For our anniversary we asked for a special meal, but the dishes listed at €138 on the menu ended up costing us €230. The owner couldn't give a convincing explanation for the difference. We paid because we didn't want an argument on our anniversary. The food felt like a poor attempt at what you might expect from a chef, and the owner came across as greedy and overcharged us. This restaurant is a tourist trap.

We come here especially for the food, and this is one of my favorite places for a great meal. I used to come from Moscow, and now I come from Berlin. It's always so delicious. Each time I wonder what could possibly be better, but Senor Filippo still manages to surprise me.
