Hotel Borghetti

I’ve never written such a negative hotel review before, but I have to say what happened. My towels weren’t changed when the room was cleaned. Even more shocking, when we got home we realized the room door had been left open. I told reception, and they said they’d forgotten to close it. How can they forget the door when guests are staying in the room? Someone touched our personal clothes, and one suitcase had been rummaged through. The place needs repairs.

Nonna's cooking was the highlight of our trip to Verona. The lasagna had just come out of the oven on our second night, and it was so good I wish I'd asked for more. I ordered the panna cotta both nights too, perfectly sweet with strawberry sauce. The coffee was the best I've had, and all the food tasted authentic and lovingly made. We'd planned to try another restaurant the second evening, but cancelled that booking to eat here again. On our first visit, though, the hostess seemed annoyed when we asked for a table a little farther from a group. Our room looked just like the photos. The hotel is older, but we found it charming. The center is a short bus ride away, and there are lovely walking spots nearby. We had a great two-night stay and would come back for the food.

The furnishings are getting a little old, but the bed was comfortable and I slept really well. Everything was very clean, breakfast was lovely, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were lucky to get a top-floor room with access to a big shared balcony.

The buffet breakfast was a real treat, especially the cakes, which left us with a lovely memory of the hotel. Service was excellent, and it was very good value for the price. The center is about 30 minutes away, but there's a direct connection, so the distance didn't bother us. I'd definitely recommend it.
