The setting and atmosphere at night were lovely, and the food itself was good. We had fettuccine Alfredo made tableside by a cool older guy, plus rack of lamb with a side salad. The male waiters were friendly, especially if you speak Spanish. The extras got expensive: $16 euros for a small portion of dried chicken added to the pasta, and $15 for a small side salad, on top of the €21 pasta. I didn’t ask the prices beforehand, but if I’d known the new total, I would’ve ordered a much better meal. I wasn’t expecting to get price gouged on the extras. Lesson learned.

The spaghetti with light pesto and seafood was tasty and full of seafood. The fettuccine prepared in a Parmesan wheel, though, arrived not even warm and had no flavor. Given how it was made, I expected a stronger Parmesan taste. We ordered those two pasta dishes, and the food overall gets 2 stars, value 1, and service 0. Service was atrocious. We waited for a waiter to take our order, and after that he never came back. We asked two other waiters for two more glasses of wine and never got them. We raised it twice at the end and nobody seemed to care. My wife shared with two people while we waited for the bill, and the nearby diners were shocked too. The response was dreadful. There’s also a 5 Euro cover charge, which I think may be why the wait staff doesn’t care. This was easily our worst dining experience in Europe. I’d avoid it at all costs. To Management: I did complain and asked twice for the wine. Read your reviews and pay attention, there’s a consistent pattern in the comments.

Watching the lake at sunset was stunning and made the place feel special. The staff were mostly polite, and the person who greeted us was attentive, but the service took more than an hour. The food was disappointing and not tasty for the price. They also seemed to add service taxes that overcharged tourists.

The €192 bill was nowhere near worth it. We booked Suisse Restaurant for New Year’s dinner because it was close to our hotel, but at 8:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve only four other tables were occupied, which already felt odd. We were seated in a closed terrace on the first floor and it was cold. The wine was average, and our first waiter, who had a tattoo on his neck, was hard to understand even after we asked him to repeat himself. Some of the food was okay: the prawns and scallops were good, while the smoked salmon was average. The fettuccine made in a cheese wheel at the table looked impressive, but was only acceptable and well below what we expected. The lobster pasta was much worse. The pasta itself was fine, but the lobster was gummy, hard, and completely inedible. I make a better version at home. €60 for that dish is a joke. Tiramisu was just okay and tasted store-bought. Overall, the food lacked depth and flavor, even though it was heavily peppered. When I asked for the bill, a different waiter brought the card machine and entered the amount before showing it to us. I’ve never had a waiter take my card like that without first clearly showing me the amount. If the machine had malfunctioned and didn’t ask for a PIN, he could easily have added a zero. When I questioned him politely, he looked visibly offended. This felt like a tourist trap, a place for one-time visitors rather than locals. We didn’t hear a single Italian guest that evening, and that seems to fit the mostly poor reviews written by tourists. We don’t recommend it. For genuinely good food and drinks, Bar Arturo is just 50 meters away.
