I really enjoyed how homey this place felt. It’s a B&B, not a hotel, with a lovely room on the first floor of a very Italian mansion. The hostess welcomed us into her home, and I liked that cozy feeling a lot. You make breakfast yourself in the first-floor kitchenette, choosing what you like from the breadbasket and fridge, with tea and coffee provided. It’s a very Italian breakfast, so not a continental one. The B&B is in a quiet, safe part of Bergamo, conveniently between the old and new towns. Check-in and check-out were easy. The hostess contacted us on WhatsApp with detailed instructions for getting in while she was out running errands. We had our own key and could come and go freely. To check out, we just knocked on the door and said goodbye. It’s clean and inexpensive, with the basic necessities, and the hostess is lovely. I’d choose this place over an ordinary hotel any day, if you’re comfortable stepping outside your comfort zone.

Beatrice went out of her way to make our visit a good one, and we had complimentary Wi-Fi. Our room had the feel of a historic hideaway, with its own balcony, and we enjoyed breakfast each morning. The B&B is in an elegant, very safe residential area. From there it’s an easy walk to the lively Old Town, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the funicolare to Città Alta, and plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants. A charming place that brings historic character together with modern comforts. Highly recommended.
