I’ve fallen for this place.

The private garden was the highlight for us, with an incredible view. The accommodation is picturesque and has fresh breakfast and good amenities. It’s in Città Alta, just a few minutes on foot from the Colle Aperto public transport stop, and the people running it are really lovely. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Our room was tucked into a small alley, but it felt cozy and had plenty of space. There was a bathroom with a toilet and shower, two single beds, a little kitchenette, and a lovely garden overlooking lower Bergamo. The kitchen had a microwave, espresso machine and a fridge stocked with breakfast spreads and drinks. Each morning the hosts brought croissants and rolls, and they replenished the cups, cutlery and other supplies daily. Getting around was easy once we followed the host’s directions. They explained where to go and offered lots of useful suggestions, and the old town starts about an eight-minute walk away. Driving in at first can be nerve-racking because Bergamo has many ZTL zones, or Zona a Traffico Limitato, where you need a permit or could face a hefty fine. The host sent clear directions, which I entered into Google Maps after studying the route. Leaving by car was simpler, and the host showed us where to park, so be sure to use the indicated spot. My partner found Bed and Breakfast Saint Erasmus Bergamo on Booking.com for the last two days of our Italy tour. The pictures looked good, so we booked it. If you’re arriving in Bergamo, staying close to the old town makes sense. We’d definitely recommend this place.
